Abstract
A route that saves fuel but breaks a vessel limit, a charter-party clause or an avoid zone is not a route an operator can use. This paper explains how VESSELFRONT applies eight routing parameters (weather limits, latitude bounds, draft, avoid zones, ECA minimisation and distance from the coast) to every route and every re-route. It shows how weather is checked against the forecast at the time of passage, and how the platform reports which limit is binding when no route fits. Illustrated with a Piraeus–Singapore voyage.
